Our firm · Fiduciary + Insurance

One advisor. All the pieces.

You may have a CPA you like and an estate attorney you trust. But when the insurance agent recommends a product, whose interest does that recommendation serve? We built our practice to answer that question differently.

Mainstreet Financial Group is a fiduciary advisory firm whose founder can also evaluate and implement insurance, so the plan comes first and the product only follows if it belongs.

Ruth D. Goldstein, CFP®, ChFEBC℠, founded Mainstreet Financial Group, LLC, a registered investment adviser in Georgia. When we give investment advice, we owe you a fiduciary duty. That means our advice must be in your best interest, and we put that obligation in writing. And because insurance services are available through a separate, commonly led insurance practice, long-term care insurance, life insurance, and annuities can be evaluated, explained in plain English, and implemented without sending you off to a salesperson you have never met.

What we hear

The questions people bring us

I have a CPA and an attorney, but nobody coordinates all of the pieces.

I didn't know if I could trust what the insurance agent was telling me.

Should I consider a hybrid long-term care policy, or forget I ever heard of them?

Is the annuity I already own actually any good?

Transparency

How we are paid

Transparency is the foundation of trust, so here it is plainly. For investment advisory and financial planning services, we are compensated by fees you pay directly, as disclosed in our Form ADV Part 2A.

If you choose to purchase an insurance product, it is offered through Mainstreet Financial Advisory Group, LLC, a separate insurance entity, which may receive a commission from the insurance company. We disclose this before you buy anything, and you are never obligated to purchase insurance through us.

You deserve to know exactly how the person advising you gets paid. Ask us anything about it.

How we help

Planning first. Products only when they fit.

Insurance decisions do not live on an island. A long-term care policy affects your taxes, your estate plan, your cash flow, and how your portfolio should be invested. We build the full picture first, then ask whether insurance belongs in it.

One coordinated plan

We read the tax return, understand the estate documents, and manage the investments, so every piece pulls in the same direction. If you already have a CPA and attorney you trust, keep them; with your permission, they will hear from us.

Long-term care analysis

Traditional LTC, hybrid life/LTC, annuity-based LTC, or self-insuring: we will tell you which category you are in, including when the right answer is to buy nothing at all.

Annuity second opinions

Whether you own an annuity or are being pitched one, we will explain what it actually does, what it costs, and whether it fits your plan.

Honest answers

Because our planning relationship with you does not depend on selling a policy, “no” is always an available answer.

Common questions

Fiduciary advice and insurance, together

Can a fiduciary advisor also be an insurance agent?

Yes. We act as a fiduciary in our investment advisory capacity as a Georgia registered investment adviser. Insurance services are offered through a separate, disclosed entity. The difference is that with us, the planning comes first, and any insurance recommendation must fit a plan built in your best interest.

Do I have to buy insurance to work with you?

No. Many of our planning clients never purchase an insurance product. Insurance is a tool we consider only when the plan calls for it.

Are hybrid long-term care policies a good idea?

Sometimes. Hybrid life/LTC and annuity/LTC products solve the “use it or lose it” objection to traditional LTC insurance, but they carry their own costs and trade-offs. Whether one fits you depends on your health, liquidity, taxes, and estate goals. This is exactly the kind of question a coordinated plan answers.

What does a review cost?

We quote a specific fee after our first conversation, once we understand the scope. Our fee schedule is disclosed in our Form ADV Part 2A, available on request.

The first meeting is a conversation, not a sales pitch.
